After choosing a pet urn, review the exact item on the order rather than repeating a broad product comparison. Similar-looking variants may have different interior measurements, openings or personalization options.
Check the exact urn before ordering
Match the selected product, usable capacity, opening and inscription to the provider’s written answers.
Your entries stay in this browser tab. Download a copy before leaving; this worksheet does not send messages or place orders.
Identify the precise variant
Write down the seller, product code, size, material and finish from the actual order. Attach the written capacity answer to the same record. A photo of a different size is not confirmation that the selected variant will work.
Connect provider guidance to product measurements
Ask the cremation provider what must be accommodated and compare that with the maker’s usable capacity and opening. If an inner container remains, record its measurements separately. Keep unit conversions out of the process until both parties have stated the units clearly.
Check personalization as a separate approval
Copy the name and dates from a trusted family record. Keep uncertain dates blank. Approve the exact spelling and line arrangement on the maker’s proof, and ask whether approval makes later corrections chargeable.
Record the remaining handoff
Confirm who receives the item and who handles any transfer. Keep the manufacturer’s closure and care instructions. If something is unresolved, save the checklist as a draft and ask the relevant provider; the urn comparison page can help when a different item is needed.
Verify the exact item you intend to order
Once you have selected a pet urn, record the actual product name or reference, maker, size option and quoted configuration. Similar-looking items can have different capacities or openings. Compare that exact option with the guidance from the cremation provider, keeping the units visible. If you are still choosing among types, return to the urn comparison guide. This page is for checking one proposed order, not inferring specifications from a product photograph.
Ask the remaining questions before personalization
Confirm the usable capacity, opening, closure and any inner container arrangement with the maker. Ask who will handle the remains and follow the responsible provider’s instructions. Do not assume a personalized item can be changed after production; record the current order terms supplied by the seller. A missing answer should remain open in the checklist. The cremation service question sheet helps if the provider’s capacity or return-container information has not yet been collected.
Read the name and inscription from one approved source
Keep the exact spelling and optional dates in one text note. Copy from that note into the proof and order rather than retyping several versions. View the inscription at its real size, checking punctuation and line breaks. If a date is uncertain, omit it or ask the person who can confirm it. A separate memorial plaque may be an alternative when the owner wants wording that can be kept apart from the container; confirm its suitability for the intended use.
Record what arrived and what was checked
After delivery, compare the received item with the product reference, dimensions and approved personalization. Keep receipts, maker instructions and provider records privately. Do not publish identifying service references or personal contact details in a public memorial. The keepsake record can preserve the source and storage context for the family. An order marked paid or dispatched is not the same as a received item whose configuration and inscription have been checked.
Questions before you continue
Does checking every box place an order?
No. The checklist only records your answers and can be downloaded for review.
Can I use the outer dimensions as capacity?
No. Record the maker’s usable interior capacity and opening measurements separately.
What if the inscription is still uncertain?
Leave it unresolved and request a revised proof before approving production.
